It’s a pretty exciting time for baseball fans throughout Canada right now! At the time of this writing, the Toronto Blue Jays – our nation’s only Major League Baseball team – have a record of 59-47. That’s good for third in the incredibly tough American League East and the last Wild Card spot. In other words, if the season ended today, our beloved Jays would be headed to the postseason! The hope, of course, is that the Blue Jays will keep it up and make a great run in this year’s playoffs.
The Jays’ winning ways aren’t the only thing getting Canadian baseball fans excited. In addition to the newly renovated digs at Rogers Centre (formerly SkyDome), where the Jays play all of their home games, the facility now boasts a new way for fans to make payments. Whether they’re buying food, drinks or souvenirs, all payments are cashless.
Rogers Centre is now officially a cashless facility.
“Rogers Centre is accepting cashless payment only throughout the ballpark,” the Blue Jays’ website informs us, “Reverse ATMs (cash input to receive pre-loaded cards) are available in Section 112 Jays Shop and at Sections 136 and 508 for fans without a cashless payment option.”
“I’ve always loved the Blue Jays,” an excited fan, who is close to our company, told us, “So I’ve always gone to a lot of games. I’ve always carried cash on me knowing that I’d be forced to use it to buy those insanely overpriced snacks. But, this year, it’s been very noticeable that all of the concessions only allow you to pay with your card. I love it. I don’t worry about bringing cash to Jays games anymore!”
We can’t wait for the Jays bring a World Series championship back to Toronto!
It has been 30 years since Joe Carter lifted that three-run blast over the left field fence to capture the Blue Jays’ second consecutive World Series championship. The excitement around the current team has the entire country buzzing over the possibility of it returning to those glory days of the early 90s. We’re happy to know that this run has brought a lot of fans to the Rogers Centre to watch games. We’re also elated that those fans are getting to experience what it’s like to pay for their treats via cashless transactions.
“It’s just easier and more convenient,” said our colleague, “With how expensive everything is, you never know when you’re going to run out of cash. When you get to use your cards, you can make your purchases worry-free and just enjoy the game. Plus, I find that the transactions are quicker. The employees don’t have to handle any cash and give you any change. I’m glad they’ve implemented this change at the dome.”
